I first heard one of those 15 years ago when they first came out. He had never earned a decent sound system preamplifier integrated units, preferring to drive into the amp master volume not to use my old Ibanez Tube Screamer. But 15 years ago, I remember one of the best records of pre-amplifier, I had never heard of. I also remember they were quite expensive new (store price?) That in part explains why Fender stopped production after 6 years.
I finally managed to get hold of my Prosonic about 18 months ago.
Prosonic offers a switchable bias / rectifier settings:
Solid State Rectifier, Class A / B 60W - sounds like a traditional Fender tone mode clean, especially on clean channel. Very clean, bright and very strong.
tube rectifier, class A / B 50W - Mode 2 is slightly lighter and darker due to compression of the tube rectifier
the rectifier tube, 30W class A - Mode 3 is true Class A mode, and Super 30W sound natural hot early break, but still strong, a worthy Voc AC30. Maybe not exactly an AC30, but not the shame of all, and could spend much more money than the Class A Amp 30w Amp.
These structures can be connected using the head of a chicken to call, even if at the same site. Beware, though, is a 30-class hard tubes.
Great, great voice. Before I got my hands on this, on-line review of the Fender Prosonic one of the best ever made. Clean channel is the classic Fender clean sound, and even though I usually use a lot of running in my game, Prosonic seems to attract me to play hard and dirty, and fun - a bit 'like a fast bike ready to extend the cable. 2 x 10 Celestions give warmth and crunch out loud - perfect for a single-coil pickups have a small combo. This is an amp, hot and strong, up to 30W mode.
Disadvantages:
The reverb is noisy. It does not bother me, but for studio use, could be a problem. A known issue with them, and it is an easy against the
Channel produces a pop - again, a known problem with them, and it is easy to mod
The Prosonic is my current amp to do everything, and after nearly 15 years to get one is a keeper.
